The video that changed my view of Benedict Cumberbatch.

Stumbling upon this interview was the turning point of my life.

Go to 2:40 - and that’s when I fell in love with Benedict Cumberbatch.

Friends of mine know that one of my biggest pet peeve is when Americans - or the like - insist that the beautiful game is called soccer. I have gotten into many debates and fights (red wine was involved, wasn’t completely sober) over this topic and believe you me, my brain went into overdrive with Benedict’s reaction when he was asked to “pledge” to call it football, soccer.

Let’s just say, that is exactly the kind of reaction I’d want the man of my dreams to say.

A horrible interview by Josh Horowitz made bearable by Benedict’s answers and his impression of Arnold Schwarzenegger. There is something about interviews of Benedict in the US I find difficult to watch. The quality of the questions most of them throw at him make me squirm. To say the least, his whole quip about “soccer” really saved this interview in my eyes.

BTW - I saw this interview just this June 2013. So while I’m a fan of Sherlock first and foremost - I became a fan of Benedict second, and the date was 8 June 2013.
